Maureen Angela Lewis is a highly respected and long standing figure within the voluntary and community sector. As Chief Executive Officer of Walsall Black Sisters Collective, she brings over thirty years of strategic leadership, operational excellence, and unwavering commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable and disadvantaged communities across Walsall and the wider region.
Maureen’s extensive background in community development includes significant contributions to local authority regeneration programmes, where she played a key role in strengthening disadvantaged neighbourhoods and designing targeted interventions. Her work in developing women’s programmes has been particularly impactful, supporting women to overcome poverty, build confidence, and progress into training, education, or employment opportunities.
Under her leadership, Walsall Black Sisters Collective has evolved into a well established, trusted, and influential organisation. Having managed the charity for more than three decades, Maureen has ensured its continued relevance, resilience, and success. In July 2026, the organisation will mark its 40th anniversary—a milestone made possible through her dedicated stewardship and sustained impact.
In recognition of her exceptional service, Maureen received several awards acknowledging her outstanding contribution to community empowerment, advocacy, and social change.
Beyond her professional achievements, Maureen is a devoted wife to Pastor O’Neil Lewis of Bethel Lighthouse Church in Walsall, a mother of four, and grandmother of six. Her passion for people and her commitment to enabling individuals to realise their potential remain central to her work. She continues to champion initiatives that foster resilience, opportunity, and meaningful, positive change within the communities she serves.
