Hillary Thompson – Woman in Community Award

Born in Jamaica, Hillary Thompson, was raised by her Aunt.  At an early age, she joined her parents in the United Kingdom. After successfully completing qualifications in both Theology and Leadership, in 1984, she was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel.  She has been in ministry for over 30 years and has ministered throughout the UK, West Africa and the Caribbean.

She is also involved in social action and has led various missionary trips to West Africa, providing care and provisions for needy widows and orphans.

Using her sound managerial and entrepreneurial skills, in 2008, she founded a successful Mentoring organisation, namely LYRC – Life Youth Resource Centre, where she offered consultancy advice to Youth Offending Services, schools, and other statutory bodies, helping young people who are at risk and involved in gun, gangs knife crime and criminal activities.

With its proven track-record to effectively help young people who are vulnerable and  at risk from involvement in gun, gang, knife-crime and criminal activities, at the end of 2022, Pastor Hillary has earmarked plans to expand LYRC’s Youth Service to also provide much needed Parenting Skills Workshops to disaffected young mothers within the community.

She also runs a weekly online School of Discipleship for Believers, the curricula include in-depth Bible Classes where Lay Leaders from a variety of local churches, are further equipped in Ministry and broaden their knowledge in the Word of God.

Her fun-loving and warm personality enables her to adeptly build good rapport and work well with others.

Currently pastors in Chingford with her husband and is blessed with two lovely boys, Vivian & Nathan.
