FUNKE OHAM – TURN AROUND AWARD
Funke Oham is passionate about inspiring women to discover their purpose and maximise their potential. She spearheaded a Ladies Club, ‘’Women Mentoring Women’’ eighteen years ago in a deprived area in East London to connect, support and empower women to achieve their personal and professional goals. Based on her impact, Funke was awarded the UnLtd Social Enterprise Award and Exceptional Community Champions Award.
Funke turned her own life around from the tragedy of losing two babies into a ministry (Always a Mum) that helps other women with this painful but often hidden issue. She raises awareness on maternal and neonatal issues. Funke’s first book ‘Always a Mum; How I survived my baby loss’ addresses issues of motherhood in relation to loss, living again and finding purpose in pain. Last year, Funke created The Waiting Room – an online support community for women who are trying to conceive and/or have experienced baby loss.
Funke’s baby loss experience opened her eyes to other women’s pain. Hence, in 2013, she created the ‘Inspirational Woman Awards’ celebrating International Women’s Day and recognising women who have overcome adversity and are making a difference in society. Through these Awards, she published the quote book ‘There is More to you’
A wife and mother of two sons, Funke shares her experience at women and leadership conferences where she inspires and influence audiences to transform their lives, homes, communities and organisations.
