Dennisha Abiona – Woman in the Community

Dennisha Abiona is a multifaceted woman whose many titles include wife, mother, foster carer and trustee to name a few. Originally hailing from Sierra Leone, she attended the prestigious Methodist Girls High School. before moving to the UK.

In previous years, Dennisha successfully held the position of Hospitality Leader at church, a position she held for over 15 years, and also taught as a Sunday School teacher for more than 20 years. More recently, she has become an Executive Member of her Old Girls’ School Association (MGHS) where she works alongside fellow executive members to support their alma mater. Dennisha is also an Executive Member of Sierra Leoneans in Essex (SLIE) another charity organisation supporting a better life for the less privileged.

Among her many achievements, her most dedicated endeavours include co-founding Compass House of Refuge, a charity aimed at supporting families in need, and has welcomed over 22 children into her home as part of her role as a foster carer.

Dennisha’s heart is to see many succeed and thrive, and is willing and ready to help them walk that journey. This is evident in her daily life and attested to, by many people that cross her path.
