Cecily Mwanik – Book of the Year Award

Cecily is a mother of 2 adult girls,and her lovely son in-law. She is married to her very supportive and loving husband, James Mugo and above all a servant of God. Cecily passionately says her mission is to empower women and young people to go beyond the inevitable challenges of life and fulfil their potential. This is with the view of promoting health & well-being, career progression, wealth creation, healthy family relationships. She believes in being the change she wants to see in the world

She is the Founder of Utulivu Women’s Group aimed at achieving the above and which in 2011 received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. Cecily is an award-winning author of 12 books and co-authored 1 who in 2017 received the African Women In Europe Writer Of The Year award; nominated for the Windrush Health Inequalities’ Champion for the NHS 70th; received the Staff Star Award 2018 within NHS Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust and recognised as one of the 5 community Heroes in Reading Berkshire 2018. She is also the Editor of Mojatu Berkshire community magazine and believes in aspiring to inspire before she expires

Cecily’s background is in teaching, Women’s Studies, Substance Use & Misuse, Public Health and Health Promotion and has a genuine love for personal development. She is also a Licenced Mental Health First Aid facilitator and passionately loves gardening and positive Networking. Above all this, she is a committed child and servant of God.
