Leah Croft

Leah Logan grew up on a strong Christian ethos at home & in her schooling at both primary and secondary level, which meant that this strong foundation was integral in her BSc Arts Management studies at London South Bank University. It was not surprising that she wanted to focus her final year dissertation, evidencing the impact of faith in action through the USA based Nicky Cruz outreach ministry called TRUCE (To Reach Urban Communities Everywhere).

The learning from TRUCE outreach initiative was instrumental in 2007 with setting up REALLITY (Raising Everyone’s Awareness of Lives Lost In The Youth) a faith based social enterprise with a strong pastoral care and advocacy role in its engagement and development programmes, for young people in hardened crime infested areas.

After her work with REALLITY she responded to the calling of teaching for the most challenging of students suffering from behavioural, learning and self-esteem needs. And so for the past 8 years she has been teaching at Burnside Pupil Referral Unit in Waltham Forest, where she has found her faith and proactive pastoral care allows her to really get to know each learner and the foundation upon which to set targets, goals personalised learning programmes and build a rapport. This in turn helps to motivate and lift moral. Her personalised mentoring sessions goes beyond the call of duty and has prevented young people at risk of gang life from going that road, reducing the risk of them being a victim of violence and knowing an alternative route through their faith.
