Christine Rugurika

Christine Rugurika is of Burundi, Rwandan and Congolese descent, living in Brussels. The second of four children.

Christine gained most of her experience in production and media whilst living in London, UK. Despite having no formal educational training in the industry, she took her passion for writing and creating scripts and surrounded herself with others who had the skills to help bring her shows to life.In 2013 her webseries Breach Drama was nominated for a Screen Nation Award.

In 2014, after returning to Brussels she partnered with SN Management and 6 Productions to produce a stage play that would showcase African and Caribbean talent. “Not Looking Back” proved to be very popular with the community in Brussels and lead to opportunities for broadcast on the Vox Africa France tv channel reaching audiences across Africa. Later renamed “Les Bijoux de L’Ame”, the play also aired on online platforms Banguwood and Wouri TV.

An episode was selected and featured at the Pan African Film Festival in Cannes in 2018 and awarded a “Dounla” at the African Awards in the same year. Christine continues to work towards developing the play for TV while she works in media and entertainment on one of the top 5 radio stations in Brussels – Arabel Radio, presenting her talk show Afro-Arabel about Africa and it’s Diaspora.

Christine states with God anything is possible through perseverance, faith and determination.
