COUNCILLOR DENISE SCOTT-MCDONALD – Christian Woman in Politics
Councillor Scott-McDonald was elected to the Royal Borough of Greenwich in 2014. Councillor Scott-McDonald became Deputy Leader of the Council in 2020 and is also Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Good Growth. Councillor Scott-McDonald is a former Cabinet Member for Employment & Skills, Air Quality, Sustainability & Transport, Culture, Creative Industries & Community Wellbeing and a former member of Greenwich Area Planning Committee (covering small to mid-size planning applications).
Councillor Scott-McDonald is also President of the National Members Council of the Co-Op Group. Councillor Scott-McDonald represents the Council on a number of outside bodies including Charlton Athletic Race Equality Partnership, the Local Government Association’s Children & Young People Board and London Council’s Transport and Environment committee. Councillor Scott-McDonald is a board member of the Greenwich Peninsula Estate Management and Greenwich Millennium Village Management Companies.
Councillor Scott-McDonald is a former London University lecturer and journalist for a number of media outlets in London and New York. Councillor Scott-McDonald’s interests include tackling violence against women and girls, social justice and equality.
