Jackie Lynton

jackieJackie is a leading change activist with more than 30 years experience of enabling change to improve care for people. Jackie has a deep understanding of human relations, organising and mobilising for action and connecting people across networks. She believes in creating change by tapping into peoples’ innate wisdom, to what’s important to them to inspire hope, purpose and participation that can make a practical and real difference.

As a change facilitator, international speaker and coach Jackie combines this to help people and systems to make their own change from the inside out, through the power of connection rather than through hierarchy.
From this space people can expand their mindset to think differently about the ‘rules of change’ and make sense of it in their own context, so they to take action with new insights.

As a NHS transformation leader and systems thinker Jackie merges the conceptual in a very practical way. She was asked to work in the most challenged system in the NHS to lead the commissioner quality improvement process. Spending a year bringing together observational and interventional findings a key observation was grassroots staff not feeling they have the ‘permission’ to make change.

Attracted to ‘rebel thinking’ and ‘diversity of thought’, Jackie is one of the many pioneers, key organiser and improvement architect behind ‘NHS Change Day’, a grassroots movement making over 800 pledges to improve patient care, spreading to ten other provinces across the world. It has been described as a ‘game changer’ and possibly the largest social movement across the NHS. It showed that a self-organising network in a hierarchy is possible and power divided is power shared, which strongly defines her values for action. It used as its core the Marshall Ganz approach to organising and social movement thinking and has taught groups the principles and how to apply them to health and care through a call to action.

Jackie invites you think innovatively to inspire what no one else is thinking and use the untapped energy and resources of power to enable people to be their own drivers of change, helping people to be their authentic selves and organisations to re-image and discover meaningful work. Starting her career as a nurse Jackie has made this the next part of her journey after 35 years in the NHS.

Jackie is an inspirational speaker and has presented across the UK, internationally and with other sectors outside of healthcare. Using leadership challenges, her public narrative, lessons learned in change and bringing up 3 creative young women, Jackie seeks ways to facilitate conversations to uncover organisational complexity and open up what is waiting to be born.
